Who we are, and what this covers
Niyyah is a matchmaking service for Muslims seeking marriage, operated from Bosnia and Herzegovina. These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of the Niyyah app. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
Who may use Niyyah
You must be at least 18 years old and legally free to marry. One person, one account. You may not use Niyyah on behalf of somebody else, and you may not create a new account to get around a suspension or ban. We may ask you to confirm your age or identity at any time.
Your account and your profile
The information on your profile must be true, and your photos must be recent pictures of you. Keep your login details to yourself — anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has got into it.
How we expect people to behave
Treat everyone here as you would want your own family treated. No harassment, no insults, no pressure, no sexual content, and no photos that would not be appropriate in front of that person's family. Do not use Niyyah to advertise, to recruit, to solicit money, or to pursue anything other than marriage. We remove content and accounts that cross these lines.
What you post stays yours
Your photos, your profile text and your messages remain yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service — to store your content, show it to the members it is meant for, and keep backups. Posts to the community feed are reviewed before they appear, and both posts and messages may be read by our moderators when they are reported.
Coins and purchases
Some features are paid for with coins. Coins are bought through the App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment, and some are earned in the app (daily visits, invitations, completing your profile). Coins are not money: they cannot be exchanged, transferred or cashed out, and a refund from the store takes back the coins it paid for. The price in coins is shown before anything is charged. Refunds follow the policy of the store you bought from.
Verification and mahrem access
The verified badge means somebody at Niyyah looked at a live photo of you beside your profile pictures and found the same person. It is free and part of signing up — it is not sold. It is not a background check, and it is not a guarantee about anyone's character or intentions. If you invite a mahrem, that person can read the conversations you have given them access to — invite only someone you genuinely want reading them, and know that you can withdraw that access.
Suspension, closure and appeals
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts other members at risk, or that we are legally required to act on. Where we can, we will tell you why. You can close your own account at any time from Settings, which deletes your profile, photos, matches and messages. If you believe we got a decision wrong, write to [email protected] and a person will look at it.
Limits, changes and governing law
Niyyah is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it safe and available, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted, and we cannot be responsible for how any member behaves, on the app or off it. Meeting anyone in person is your decision and your responsibility. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
